Phase 1 Citroen XM 2.0 SEi Turbo, Petrol, Manual.
Discussion
Impulse buy last week

Last two owners were Citroen enthusiasts so has been cared for properly, last owner did a lot of work, all spheres replaced Hydractive sorted out, head gasket, timing belt, brakes etc.

SEi is pretty high spec, full leather, air con, sunroof, electric mirrors, windows etc, all electrics work which is pretty amazing.
It's a 92 MY regestered in 93.
Apparently only 18 Phase 1 SEi Manuals left, XM's of any kind are not an everyday sight anyway.

Being a Phase 1 it has a more "Citroen" like dash and steering wheel, Phase 2 (94 onwards) had airbags and a more conventional style dash, the car should actually have a two spoke wheel but he included the earlier single spoke so i bunged that on as i prefer it, even though the rim is Vinyl and the two spoke Leather

Seats are epic and very comfortable, a wheel halfway up the back of the drivers seat i thought was for lumbar support actually pinches the bolsters in or out to suit fat or skinny drivers
, the front arm rest is electric powered (i kid you not)

Second glass rear screen.

Full black interior including headlining makes it a dark place.

Suspension works fine.

So been really enjoying it so far, was underneath it earlier, pleased to find it's absolutely solid, just a few areas i need to scrape/Kurust/Underseal.
May tint the Fog light/Indicator units in the bumper yellow but will remain otherwise standard.

nice car though OP. My Dad had one but I can't ever remember going in it, in fact the only memory I have of it was when it was parked in the corner of our unit so I'm not even sure it saw the road.
Always wanted to go in one and in fact wanted to buy one last year but apparently its not an ideal car for 21 yr old student

Cheers for that, will have a read through it later
That is lovely, I prefer the Mk1, but when I saw a nice black Mk2 I couldn't resist. As you say they're not exactly thick on the ground!

PS I bought mine after watching Ronin!

**pervily requests Citroen armrest porn video**

Very nice, that armrest will go down as the most epic armrest in motoring history. Only Citroen could motorise something that it would be easier just to pull up manually.
I know i thought the electric headrests in my old E38 were pointless but the electric armrest takes the biscuit. They put the buttons for the armrest right in front of it too so you still have to look down and fiddle about on the centre console for the buttons

Cheers for that, did try and do a video but PC wouldn't play the game, my clip was exactly the same as that on the camera anyway. Still smoking around in this old Garlic barge, still love it
Got my Land Rover back on the road last week so the Citroen went into the garage for some attention, pulled out the spare wheel and carrier as the carrier can be quite bad for rotting out, sure enough mine is crusty on the lower surfaces so some new steel will need welding in, hanging up in the garage for now though.

With the wheel and carrier out i could give the underside a good check for rust, the previous owner had mentioned some rust around the subframe mounts but this turned out to be only surface rust. Checked the whole of the underside and pleased to find it's 100% solid, jacking points, sills ect are all mint

Pressure washed the underside of the car a few weeks ago but deleted the pics from my camera by mistake
As always with rust once i started scraping there was more than expected, nothing nasty though just surface rust in the corners and under the seam sealer etc., scraped it off and treated it with Kurust.

All done, went over the floor/chassis with stone chip and blasted the rear subframe with Waxoyl.

Tinted my headlights yellow a few weeks ago, i know this isn't to everyones taste (even the French stopped tinting lights years ago) but i like it and it's a mod that can be easily rectified/reversed in the future.
Grill came off easily alowing access to the headlight lense (real glass in this age of car) clips, with the lense off there is a second plastic lense in front of the dipped beam bulb, painted the inside of this with yellow tint paint, painted the main beam bulbs yellow and used yellow film on the fog/driving lights.

Quite pleased with the results
