Morning,

Just wanted to confirm that my car does not have an LSD?

All the technical specs I have found don't mention one.

Thanks

Well you could have, but it was a rare option on the 3.2 Do you still have the sticker under the bonnet? If so, ther'll be a code for it, but I can't remember what it is....not so long ago someone posted the codes on this forum.

The option code is M220 for LSD. If the sticker is not still on the bonnet then the codes should also be found in the Service Book.

Quick question Rubystone if I may? How rare is the LSD on the '85 RHD 3.2 Carreras? Mine has one.

Phil.

Ok, thanks, will have a poke about under the bonnet later. Just looking at Quaife/Torsen/Salisbury options.

Philly, I've "known" a lot of 3.2s and owned 2. Only one of those cars - a 1986 with G50 had an LSD. I guess I might have been unlucky as it were in not striking a rich seam of LSD equipped cars and it'd be intersting to see whether any figures are available of RHD cars with LSD fitted. It's a bit like aircon - in the UK few RHD 3.2s were specified with it, yet a lot of lhd cars do have it fitted.

You can also tell from the gearbox number, usually it is something like G5001 00 XXXXX for an open diff and G5001 02 XXXXX for a LSD. The factory fit LSD is a ZF/Salisbury/plate type, but for 90% of road users I recommend the Torsen torque bias diff, which normally work out a lot cheaper to buy new anyway. Most of them are covered on our website if you need more information.
