And the 'leatherette and cord seats'!

Don't know anything about the car, although there were a couple very similar for sale last year (at 1/2 the price att). My guess is it would need quite a bit of work, which might justify a 'light' restoration - although that might not involve 'light' expenditure. A pair of correct recaro sports seats (which it deserves), could be £5k+

It's 100k more than any sane person should pay for it.

Edit to add, maybe not a hundred more, but certainly too expensive,

I don't understand.....why should it be 50k? A 2.4s was £50k 5 years ago so I'd say its priced about right for the current market.

I doubt you'd find one much cheaper!

A Dino 246 is 350k, so I guess its all relative?

I dont know and its hard to apply sensible logic to 'special cars'. Its very emotive and is currently being driven by increasing demand and reducing supply!

Whether its overheated is not in dispute, but I dont see how it can be cooled!

Its a hard one to answer or quantify, but I do get why. I will try and explain.

Air cooled magic undervalued magnus walker james dean steve mcqueen le mans gulf racing integrity beauty quality japanese methodology built to a price bore scoring ims d chunk auto gearbox pasm electronic nannying gubbins rubbish car drives itself layers between driver and road all cars are now the same too fast too easy no skill need that old feel smell touch sound involvement simple raw fun challenge thrill danger obsession.

I think that covers it. wink

Then there is this angle on the subject which words cannot explain.

Thats the obsession bit! They are very sensitive to the smallest detail variances, ride height, wheel size, tyre profile, camber, tyre tread style even!

They all look so different to me, with their own characteristics and of course history.

they're more 'fun' than a 993 ( we're talking subtle differences that add up to the sum of the experience )

I've still got my 2.4S after 12 years , I get a more driving pleasure from it than any other porsche I've driven ( incl the current PH favorite 996 GT3 )

My 964 feels like a dull engined heavy weight in comparison

Of course we're all different , and what I & others think are amazing, won't appeal to other people

Values .. the whole market appears a bit daft , but there is a lot of wealthy people out there & these cars or cars like them are not being produced anymore. Being an owner, I can't complain , but for someone like me it will get to a point where the value out weighs the fun.

But that isn't an original pre-impact.....any old 964 could be made to look like that....

And yet, a small 'jewel' measuring under an inch can be worth millions! And it was just dug out of the ground. Like a piece of coal.

Theres no logic to this stuff.
