Has this been done? Granada hubs?

Any advantages with brakes to be had ie using the Granny discs and calipers?

Thoughts and comments welcome

Cheers

Just done the official conversion. I have the procedure and specifications if they're of any use.

No advantage with brakes as the 500 and post 96 cars had the larger brakes fitted as standard. I am pretty sure that the Granny hubs are not a straight replacement as they may require the corresponding uprights as well. There is only a mm or so clearance and it is easy to loose that. According to my data books the Granny and TVR discs have upto 10mm offset difference so it looks like that this requires some major engineering (and cost).
The hubs might fit but the corresponding discs don't have the right offset.

Thanks Bob, do you mind if I ask how much the kit set you back?

Did you buy wheels as well?

The kit was all inclusive, wheels, AP brakes, hubs, discs, bearing, flexi hoses and general fittings. All in cost of £1.599 + VAT. The 'off the shelf' price is nearer £2,700 so the kit is something of a bargain but it'll take some negotiating to get TVR to play. Niell Anderson was the contact and I'm not aware of anyone managing this since Niell's departure.

My front hubs on my '97 Griffith are Granada hubs !
TVR must have used a job-lot of 5 hole Granny hubs and had 4 of the holes welded up and 3 new holes drilled.

Yes Steve, the offset is about 10mms, but this was taken care of by TVR by adding two large spacers on each of the (?Sierra) calipers.

Now the back hubs are true Sierra refugees, so I guess it is possible to modify the Front to 5-stud but you might have to keep 4-stud on the Rear !
