Evening all

I'm sure this has been covered a number of times, but having attempted to search this forum I can't find it so I'll ask the question again.

Do I need an OEM AM cable to connect my iPod (2015MY Vantage), or will the standard white apple cable provide both playback and charging ?

Shouldn't your car be coming with the OEM cable especially as Dealer supplied ?

I hope so but in honesty i'm not sure.

The OEM cable.....is that for the newer lightning connector or the older (wider) Apple connector ?

Mine 2012 came with wider for ipod i use a std lightning cable for my iphone 6 which charges it too so i guess that would be ok for newer ipod.

The lightning cable will charge, but will not play music. You need a lightning adapter on the OEM iPod cable.

I keep meaning to research this better but I recall there was a jag option to change the cable to a lightening one that might be an option. I think XK owners have similar setup to the astons. Anyone tried?

Edit: forget that thought, it was an upgrade for the old type.

Alternatively (because I've just fitted mine) have you considered a Tune2Air? It doesn't charge (obviously) but saves you having to plug anything in and it works on the old 30 pin socket.

I was just curious what the options were really. To be honest if it's the old wider plug I'll just get a 40GB iPod from eBay and leave it in the car, that should be enough space for my Chas & Dave and Waylon Jennings collection tongue out

You'd be better off getting a 32G memory stick for £10 and using that in the USB slot. Same functionality.
