Caught doing 140mph

This is all hypothetical of course but say I got pulled over by an unmarked traffic car after having them sit on my tail, and then after getting annoyed by them tailgating, decided to floor it and disappear off up the road at 140mph, what punishment would I likely receive? Let's say, for arguments sake, this were to happen on a pretty deserted, dead straight duel carriageway in good driving conditions.

If you think that sounds a bit dodgy, I'm not being done for this, but for reasons I don't want to say on here I'm curious as to what would have happened.

Appreciate the possibility, but jail for driving a car above an arbitrary speed is just ludicrous. You could do someone real harm in terms of assault and get a caution. The notion that you can be prosecuted, convicted and jailed for doing something that might be dangerous at another time or place in a different context in a different car is, frankly, absurd and only something that the truly microbrained car hating muppets in charge of Bliar's Britain could even contemplate.

Quite and it just shows how hysterical and unthinking is the current climate in some areas.

A friend of mine got off with an indicated 145 mph.
Due to a technicality, only 1 BiB was in the car that caught him, and the CPS dropped the case.

The letter dropping the case is up on the bathroom wall

Well to be honest, I would be in favour, if other criminals were given the same sentences..

I fully agree. This kind of nonsense certainly diminishes my respect for the law. There is no way that a custodial sentence should be even considered for merely exceeding a speed limit.
