360 v 430 v Gallardo
Discussion
Not sure I can add much value but I recently sold the 360 (at the end of last year), there is still a fair gap between it and a 430 although I would agree this is slowly narrowing and will probably continue to do so for top examples of the 360.
I wanted a 430 as the next logical move but couldnt find one in the spec I wanted and it was looking more like 75-80 for a late low mile car, I then started to look at the Gallardo as had always fancied them and they looked to be similar money to a 430 for a nice example, the problem you then have is juggling between a late low mile std mk1 car and an LP for "just a few dollars more", I ended up with an LP e-gear as fed up changing gear with them old manual things.
Its early days and for double the money you would expect it to be significantly better than a 360 in all departments, the power on the thing is nothing short of savage, the noise (especially on downshifts) fantastic, and of course German build quality and hopefully reliability.
My only gripe so far is that I just cant get seated properly but I have only really used the car a couple of times on proper runs, the peddles are well offset to the left and for me its currently a case of moving entire leg in order to brake or at least it seems that way, lower seat cushion seems to long which isnt helping and I have made worse by raising the seat a bit so need to revisit.
Opening the garage door is still an event as is driving up the road in the thing.

Does it feel just as fun as the 360 and as special? I am looking at Pre LP cars, and a manual. The noise from the pre LP cars is amazing. You need to learn left foot breaking ! Its difficult to judge pressure initially and also stop moving your right leg reactively but once you master it, its way better and more comfortable as you sit square again I wanted a 430 as the next logical move but couldnt find one in the spec I wanted and it was looking more like 75-80 for a late low mile car, I then started to look at the Gallardo as had always fancied them and they looked to be similar money to a 430 for a nice example, the problem you then have is juggling between a late low mile std mk1 car and an LP for "just a few dollars more", I ended up with an LP e-gear as fed up changing gear with them old manual things.

Would also add, refine it when there are no cars about, and if you drive a manual often your muscle memory will be used to pushing the clutch to the floor most of the time. If you do alot of track work in a manual then you'll probably be used to it anyways. Or get a LHD.JayK12 said:

I dont think anything short of an Aventador has the same visual impact as an Orange LP.

As far as special goes its in a different league IMO, no disrespect to anyone but as nice as the 360 is (and I had one for 2 years) its not really special.

I guess everyone has a different idea of special. For me a Manual 360 Spider Tubi equipped through a b road was a very special drive. Im not one for the newer tech in supercars i guess. Yes i want it to look nice, but i want the drive to be the special, the noise, the interaction with the car. I dont think anything short of an Aventador has the same visual impact as an Orange LP.

430 v non LP is a more relevant comparison and a tougher call

Its early days yet but I guess for pure driver envolvement a manual open top car would beat an F1 / e-gear coupe with all mod cons, what it cant compete with is 570bhp of V10 and the sheer grunt of the thing but then they are nearly 10 years appart.

Yes that's what Im finding. I drove the F430 F1 and it didnt do anything for me really. I prefer the looks of the Gallardo and the noise, those are obviously two key factors. Need to drive one. I've been reading that you can do a 2WD conversion on the 4WD Gallardo. Yup i remember remember the V10 grunt, a kick in the back, was a nice feeling combined with the noise. Power wise the only thing i felt was fast recently was a DBS i drove. 430 v non LP is a more relevant comparison and a tougher call

Agreed the 360 may not be overly special in the world of super cars but they're pretty special compared to 99.5% of the rest of vehicles on the road
It's perhaps best to compare like for like too - Gallardo against F430 as the 360 is the earlier model of course.
