Fitting some new pads (Mintex) and Disks (EBC Turbo) this week and was wondering about the best practice for bedding them in.

I know this one has been done, but I've been through the archives and it seems that there are still some answered questions.

Most seem to agree that warming the disks up with light braking followed by several hard stops from 70 mph is the thing to do. However there seemed to be some disagreement about holding the pads against the disks for a few minutes following the final stop.

Some argue this could imprint the disks?

Is there a consensus on this one? Also is this proceedure reserved for the more race type pad (Pagid) or can it be applied to all elise pads?

Many thanks

Have a search in the forum mate - this has been done a few times with advice from the geezer from Lotus. In fact I think it was dragged up only a few weeks ago...

Yep knew it was there...

Thanks Tim,

What's your thoughts on the "holding the pad against a hot disk" debate?

bogie why have you gone through so many discs? excuse my ignorance...

i have standards on my S2 and am pretty keen driver...something im missing??

Also can anyone say whether i should hear really loud deep noise from brakes during intense braking from 70? Its not a judder and i quite like it but dont remember it being so noticeable before. Pads have about 2000 miles left....

cheers guys

P.S. you're welcome guys, one day we might make it to the same carpark/meet and get to talk nonsense in person
