Dvla fine late payment road tax - advice

So fallen foul of the new system I think.
Moved house last year, forgot to update v5 so no reminders
Tax ran out end of jan just realised because no disc displayed.
Sent off v5 with updated address to dvla today.
Can't tax online as MOT has now lapsed as car is in garage for bodywork as a bin lorry hit it and it was undriveable until liability agreed.
I've just SORNd car but won't be able to retax or back pay to start of feb until I have an MOT and that could be a number of weeks. Don't know if there is a fine waiting for me as not had any letters
What should I do? Tried calling them but ended up bleeding profusely through the ears waiting.

You've not fallen foul of any new system, your failure to update the address on the V5 got you into this mess. Moved house last year, forgot to update v5 so no reminders
