Anyone know what's happening re 993 C2 and C2/C4S prices?

I've followed the market for some time and had a 993 C2 for 7 years, but the price difference between the "S" and base models was usually quite wide, but now I'm seeing some change.

Paragon Porsche have a 993 C2 with roughly 65K miles for £50K, while Shirleys Garage have a C4S also for £50K with roughly 83K miles. The former being the slightly better driving experience IMHO, the latter being rarer and for some better looking, but I don't want to enter a debate of that nature, I just want to understand what's happened in that "S" prices simply haven't moved as much. If you have your investment hat on, then one would consider the C4S to be a good bet as built in fewer numbers etc, while the base C2 provides the better driving experience....perhaps that's becoming an overriding factor?

993 C4 owner here. I also keep an eye on prices, Paragon Porsche seem to be just about the most expensive dealer in the land, this may well be justified, I've never seen any of their stock.

Mileage is also a big factor, if the Shirleys car was 60k miler I bet it would £10k more, but if Paragon were selling it probably £15-£17k more.

Yes, but prices between the base model and S seemed to have converged a bit.

Paragon do have high standards and a no fuss warranty.

Having owned a C2 for 7 years though I couldn't pay £50K. I enjoyed the car a lot but I paid £24K for a very sorted example from Ray Northway and despite moves in the market, £50K doesn't cut it for me. It's a good car, but after a while they start to feel bland for me. Then again, I'm not looking for a 993 C2, so perhaps another individual would pay that much. Cameron had one recently that went for £45K.

Like the 'widebody' 3.2s, the C2S/C4S probably isn't a better car - on the contrary.

However, they are rarer and have a slightly more distinctive look. So, in the climate of 'collectability' they will command a premium. However, so does 'low mileage' - and a narrow body C2/C4 with 50k mls is going to close the gap on an 'S' approaching a six-figure mileage.
