Calling Wildfire
Discussion
Sadly I fear I will becoming Wildfire1040. ie. I'm going back to my mini 1040 and taking the money and running for the moment. We kinda need the space at home at the moment, the driveway and garage are just too crowded.
I'll be selling the car with everything:
the 2 sets of wheels
The Hood Cover
Griff Stays (not fitted yet)
spare heads
spare painted rockers
Spare painted plenums
x2 spare airflow meters
spare injectors
Spare inlet manifolds
Spare indicators
Spare Gas Strut
and whatever other bits I have around. Plus they get the one off JP exhaust, with the V8 tail pipes.
I may fit a 1430 to the mini in summer, so I'll be getting my kick out of that once the S has gone.

But the minis are actually faster than the S, from point to point and round the corners. Besides I'm trying to persuade the father to lend me his '65 Alfa Guiletta Spider for top down fun.
What brought it home really was the realisation that I don't actually need it, as I haven't had it for a month now, and road tax is coming up at the end of this one. I'm only driving a standard 998 mini and am having a ball doing so. Ground clearance is better, I can hoon into roundabouts, l.o.o then recorrect. No chance of sliding off and damaging GRP that will take months to sort out. It's a £25 new pannel and alls fine again if anything happens. I just can't deal with the massive costs that the Tivs take to repair, a TP is the same price as a full exhaust system on a mini, and thats a Maniflow straight through single box 1" 7/8.
All I need is to MOT and Tax my 1040 and I shall be back!! Racing seats, harnesses and all. Once I sort out a decent 1380 or hopefully 1430 I'll be pushing 18bhp per ton. I mean I get 130bhp per ton with the 1040, so 180bhp per ton through the corners as if it's on rails!!!
I'll be sad to see the S go, and it was fun, but the GRP thing is a bit too much for me. Even if I fitted a CF FF to the Mini it's only £300 for a new one if it breaks.
If anybody knows someone looking for a well cared for S with loadsof extras and quite a few spares, for a very reasonable price then let me know.

You will come to the next S meet though wont you? I'll likely be there.
Chris, thompsons water seal - How long does it take to dry? I want to do my roof (just one coat likely) but dont have time if its going to take ages to dry.
Doh!!! 180bhp per ton.
I'll probably come along to the next S meet, try and blag a lift in someones, unless we have a pre big meet soon, in which case I'll probably bring the S.
Thompsons, takes around 1-2 hours to dry initally (maybe longer in this weather, I reccomend takingthe roof panels off and drying them inside) but I think you're supposed to keep the whole thing dry for 24 hours.
I let it dry off, then put my car cover on in the evening.
It's good stuff, kinda revives the roof a bit as well.
