Thanks to everyone who contributed to the previous thread.

I bought the mk2 comfort version, artic, has leather, buckets and a roll cage - and something called "headlight pack" - anyone know what this is - litronics?

Now looking forward to getting it out on track!

Its a big change in performance terms from my 993 so will tread carefully at first.

I'm sure its been covered before but any insurance tips? I'll try with AON and Peart Associates, both of whom insured my 993 previously.

Cheers

Ajit.

Yup, litronics. Very excellent they are too.

I'm with Tesco, Elephant got within about £50 of them. Liverpool Victoria don't have a GT3 in their database so won't insure one I suspected I wasn't going to beat Tesco's £1200 so stopped ringing round after that.

Bickley Insurance do track day cover with their policies. They also understand exactly what a GT3 is.

I suppose if my policy included trackday cover I'd be running out of excuses

I'd second Bickley, give Chris Wilkins a call, he covers a good proportion of the GT3 titanic list I think!

I'll 'third' Chris.

He seems to be one of only a handful of insurers who will touch a car fitted with a cage for road use, and understand that you're not necesserily going to try and emulate Ari Vatenen on the way to Tesco's (unless it's down a 15km mud and gravel road, lined with trees and ruts).....

The 'club' policies he offers from NU also cater for trackdays at £79 a pop (bumped XS though) - which is nice.

Nice one.

Come to Bedford on Sat 5th March. Its an RMA day, so its always well run, and attracts decent bunch of people too.

Im insured with AON. Ive got the collectors car policy which fully insures my GT3 for track days at a cost of about £55 per day (£1 per 1k value roughly)

You only need to ring them the day before and pay your premium over the phone.

Ajit, congrats, I think you made the wiser choice with the MkII. Look forward to seeing you at a trackday soon, Bedford is a great place to get fully 'acquainted' with your new toy.

Tiff, any joy with sourcing the Dunlop's? - I've had no success and looks as though I'll be opting for the Mic' Cups shortly.

Peter - do you have a number for AON (& exactly what i should ask them for) - I previously insured with their classic policy but the GT3 can't go under that because of its value. My new insurers ( A MAnning) give free track cover but only for PCGB days. I'd really like to do the Bedford day that Sean is organising.

Cheers

Yes ring 01483 70 60 59

Ask for Nick Bailey, (my client manager)
The scheme is called the Collectors car insurance with weighted track day cover. I got an even better rate because I arranged the policy with the RMA originally. Since then Ive had 3 renewals and no increase in cost (except when I went from 996 to gt3)

i would seriously think about Aon, because you can go on any day with any club.
PCBG , while they are well organized are not always that convenient.

I think the day Sean is organizing is booked up isnt it???

Kieron,...

No no luck with the Dunlops yet...

Congratulations! I'm envious. Now your anxieties begin - where to park it in the shopping mall lot.

Yep - but I've had good practice with my 993 over the last 5 years......incredibly, i managed to get a car park attendant to see sense once when he was about to ticket me for parking in two spaces. I explained that i had two tickets displayed, had paid twice, therefore could take up two spaces!

Cheers

Went to pick the car up today. Found out that its had two rear main seals replaced due to leaks; now its leaking again. Vehicle data readout from the systems diagnostic tester (after they finally showed it to me) didn't look too clever either with it being taken into illegal rev range many times. Cars only done 2000 miles. Had to refuse the car. Gutted. The search starts again!

Oh no. - How frustrating. Good luck with the quest. When you phone around to book a test drive, ask them how many owners, and what maintenance works/warranty works have been carried out. It save a lot of leg work and heartache.

Let us know how you get on

Thats scary. Very shrewd of you to ask for the diagnostics. Not sure I would have thought of that. Well done, chap.

Camtune have a BRAND NEW yellow one they are offering at a big discount ! Probably near OPC used money.

Damn, I thought GT3s didnt suffer the RMS problems.

Oh well, looking is half the fun (so they say).
