350Z vs various GTR's ?
Discussion
I find myself looking at R32 GTR's, of all the Skylines I think it is the purest and most purposeful looking, just something about that stance.
I was thinking I might change my 350Z for one but they are pretty old, plus how much more engaing to drive are they ? is a standard R32 vastly quicker than the 350Z in a straight line ?
What is the consensus on GTR prices, R34's dont seem to be dropping, R33's and R32's seem pretty good value in comparison, was the R34 a quantum leap over the R33, and the R33 over the R32 ?
Was thinking if I spent up to 15 grand on a nice example, would it lose any money ?

The R34 has the neo RB26DETT engine which is widely considered the best engine for Skyline's with it's robustness and reliability even when pushing out monster figures. I think their newness/rarity/engine/film association is reflected in the prices.
Evo 196 did a big review of all the GTR's from the 32 - 35, have a read and see if that helps?
I only have a GTS-T R33 so RWD and single turbo and it's still great car and I love driving it.
R32's have the HICAS 4-wheel-steering which is hydralic compared to the R33's SUPER HICAS which is ECU controlled.

I think it depends on how long you intend to keep it for
If you buy a nice, clean R32 GTR and keep it that way, I can't see it loosing you too much money
I'm hoping to get one this summer as its a car I've always wanted and looking to keep long term (10+ years)
Another thing to remember is that the R32 GTR are starting to get to 25 years old, which means the USA can import them a lot easier, give it a few years and I think prices will start to rise as Europe will be fighting USA on the Japanese auctions. (this could also be total b
ks, but that's what I'm telling myself to justify one now rather than later)

Jacko, have you looked at Newara imports - they sell top spec R32s but you pay a premium. They also do an option for a Robson interior refit which I think is a must as it really freshens up the interior, unless it's originality you're after. Every time I see an R32 I want one, nows a good time to buy I think. It's a small but captive market

Yes, been looking at their stock, the interiors is a weakpoint on the R32, the seats generally look minging even by Japanese cloth standards but I do sort of like the businesslike nature of it, no pretence, just there to do a job.Gassing Station | Japanese Chat | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
