Help! Sunroof stuck open

As per title, help welcomed.
Friend has a 90s air cooled Porsche but not very computer literate hence my posting.
Believes sunroof mechanism was the same on 964/993.
He opened it fine.
But it does not close.
Motor can be heard trying but no movement.
He pushed it as far as possible with brut force whilst engaging close button but roof stops with 2 or 3 inches left.
He says there is supposed to be manual way to shut it but requires guidance.
Also that he's opened "the zip" but can't see anything (hope this means something).
Any ideas?

Scroll a bit down, you see a crankhandle and where to place it for closing the roof. It's behind the Zipper.

I hope he has the crank tool. Looks like a 6mm hexagonal allen key may work.
