Photo of your underside!

Does anyone have a photo to hand that they can post up here of the underside of their car?

I just wanted to see what the space is like around/above the exhaust without going home to look!

It's a longshot, I know but ....

Thanks Mike, and what a spotless chassis it is, mine is less easy to see with all the waxoyl on it!

There are a couple of photos and now I have pasted the links here they can be viewed in a larger format, they are V8 of course so the exhaust is different but I guess the chassis is pretty similar (I know there are minor difference): -

Not much space between the silencer box and chassis in these photos is there?

It looks like there should be a bit of space above and indeed this installation is mounted fairly high so at least I now know that it's possible to gain some more ground clearance.

NOt sure if the V6 is the same but I regularly have to move mine about as the box vibrates onto the chassis if it gets knocked bloody annoying sometimes .
One tip worth doing is where the nuts/bolts securing the main box on are is to reverse them so the heads point down gives a good 10mm better clearance IMHE.

BTW Mr Sheen that chassis is obscene .

If its the underside of a v6 you are looking for then the bottom of an S1 is on www.tvrsseries.com/ David Bruce's S1 (Mine) if its of any help.

I think there is a small cross member just behind the exhaust silencer box that restricts vertical movement.

Not shown very well by this pic, but follow the chassis member between the rear suspension mountings. This may not even be there on the V6.

Although looks to me like the crossmember is above the propshaft, so should be OK?

The chassis is mostly box section. You can see where the tubes go over the prop, these are mirrored on the underside. At least I think they are on my car.

You may be able to get a couple of cm extra, I know my car needs it. Perhaps I will have another look at mine if you have sucess.

You should be just able to see the tube that runs below the gearbox, there is another towards the rear.

Thanks Z, I'll probably be able to shift it up a little but I don't think it's worth asking the fabricators to change the geometry of the pipes, just raise it a little during installation.

If I reduce the size of the dampers it should give more height, I have heard this is an age old trick to get around the S grounding problems.

Why would Mr. Sheen be photographing the underside of his car, it's the same as any other V8S

Yes wash your mouth out , I think its fair to say more time has been spent under this car than mine certainly has seen on the outside . Still can't believe those nuts and bolts though .

Thanks Dave and TVRGIT, the photo was very helpful and confirmed to me that there's not much scope for raising the exhaust unless I have a shorter box and 45 the pipes up into where the box will sit in the recess between the chassis rails and exhaust mounts.
