If serious, it's a great shame as like you say these cars are becoming rare now. Cost a fortune to fix that.

If you have the time, money and patience to put it right, then why not?

Personally, I'd just go buy a decent one for £5-6k and do it up as required. They don't cost a fortune to put right.
