Aluminium tax disk holder not sticking

I have tried the 3M sticky clear blobs that came with the disk holder and have replaced them a couple of times but nothing seems to stick it. When I have replaced them I have to buy a kit which includes an allen key and a spare screw which I don't need. I have probably spent more on the blobs than on the original disk holder!!!!
I could move the holder but it should stay in the bottom n/s corner. Currently it sits in the glovebox.
Any ideas to resolve the problem (Griff 500).

Had the same problem in my Chimaera.
Resolved the problem by using the thicker "spacer" discs to compensate for the windscreen curvature, and by moving the tax disc holder a little more towards the centrwe of the screen.
Give screen a de-grease with some Mr Muscle window/glass cleaner, and that should do the trick

I put 2 stickies together to make up for the curvature of the screen and only fixed it in the three places where it touched the screen.

We gave up and invested in one of Ted's finest Pistonheads Tax Disc Holders.

Do I get credit for the plug, ted?

Had the same problem on my mini cooper ...

I ended up putting a bead of clear mastic round when it fell of on a long corner rolled along the dash and
bruised my shin as it fell!!

Now stuck on for ever ... looks fine also.

Had a similiar problem with the Cerbera - the windscreen is just too curvy! Gave up in the end

I fastened a short piece of aluminium to one of the allen screws and slid this between the windscreen and the door post upholstery. Works a treat and easy to remove when I have to insert a new tax disc. Been like this now for 3 years without a problem.

I have the same problem with mine. The only time it has stayed on was when the factory stuck it back in place with 2 pieces of duck tape.

Maybe the car has an inbuilt ability to repel anything remotely max power?

halfwits do a sticker kit inc a few spacers, mix them with a tube of superglue, and the holder stays p[ut, you just need to allow for the curveture of the screen, and pack out the pads to compensate for it.

Before you try and fix the disc holder back on (again!) clean the inside of the windcreen with vinegar, seems to degrease better than anything else I've tried and my disc holder hasn't fallen off since - fingers crossed!

I gave up with mine, looked great too, had TVR Tamora engraved on the back with the number plate details, but I got so fed up of it being 'catapulted' to the passenger seat (or chan!) everytime I accelerated, that I now have the standard TVR Power disk holder, the ally one did not stay put, no matter what methods I used, short of spot welding the damn thing to the windscreen that is!!!

I did a Mr Angry on mine and stomped up and down on it after one of the allen bolts rounded off and I couldn't replace the disc.

It a completely sh*te piece of design - all they needed to do was thread the two halves or have a steel liner that is magnetic, then you wouldn't have to fiddle around with those silly little bolts every year and risk either the tax disk falling off the screen or the bolts falling into the ventilaion system.
