Door switch question...moving on from yesterday!

Evening all.

Moving on from yesterday when I was perusing the fact that my interior light wouldn't extinguish...well, I've checked and cleaned the door switches, replaced and still it remains on. However the problem seems to be that the door isn't pushing the switch to the fully closed position. A bodge would be to glue something on the door. The door isn't standing out proud, I think the switch needs to be pressed in more, so I'll give another couple of switches a whirl. However I've been looking and can't for the life of me find the donor vehicle. I've checked the usual ford and Vauxhall components, similar, but mine have two male spade connectors on, the ford and vx both have only one.
Any idea of the part number or donors?

Also, I believe mine has cosworth brakes, the pads are a little low so I'll change those. Same question really, anyone know the size/part number.

Can't you space the switch a little from the post to the contact point on the door to work? Or is it a large gap?

I suppose I could do, that would be a plan.. It's not a large gap at all really. I think maybe a superglued 'something' on the door would be the easiest.

To ask the dumb question, you've pressed the switch in with your finger.....and seen the light go out? If it doesn't, have you checked the courtesy light switch is on the correct of the three positions? Sorry to ask, but I am judging others by my own Homer Simpson level of stupidity.....DOH!!

Not at all QBEE, never a daft question. Yep, I've pressed it in with my thumb and it goes off after 20 seconds...

Spacer or stick on extra?

Either - the easiest is a stick on pad for it to strike

This switch is originally a Vauxhall part - Vauxhall part number is 9197594
It was also used extensively on Lotus models (particularly the Elise).
Lotus reference for the door switch is A111M6035F
Price at Lotus spares place - £4.95 each

I had the same problem on mine.

There is supposed to be a small rubber pad glued to the door to push in the switch, mine fell off.

I used a rubber blanking grommet, the type used on a wiring pattress.

Nice one Dave, just checked mine, yes, both rubber grommets have fallen off.

Mike, I had this problem on mine and bought some rubber "pads" from poundland!
Glued a couple back to back to get the right depth and then stuck them back on the car with
a dab of no nails. Tried superglue style adhesive but it goes brittle and they fall off again....
No problems since

Simples; my cars are blue (ish) and I was born in the province of Zeeland (The Netherlands).......

All sorted I used some double sided number plate tape, on top of which I placed a 1" cistern rubber grommet.
Perfect! A fully functioning interior light.
