Hi all,

Just heard there's going to be a porsche special day at Oulton...

"Oulton Park International - Sat 5th March – open pit lane…. £159 **PORSCHE SPECIAL
9M Supported, Other marques welcome"

Should be a good day. Anyone going?

Oulton is too far for me.

I'm going to booking onto a load of PCGB days, though.

Combe*2, Goodwood*2, Bedford, Silverstone and Brands I think...

I'm booked !!!!!

I do all the Sat PCGB ones as my insurer covers me FOC on them, they are very well run, and discounted for members

Never done Oulton though, is this the place they call the mini Nurburgring ?

Blimey! That was quick. I'd better pull my finger out and get booking.

Do you often do PCGB days, Glenn? Say hello, won't you!

I am usually the only bright Guard's Red Boxster S there...

Don,

Yes, will def' say hello, just looked at your avatar, and it is almost exactly the same kind of shot i took of my speed yellow Boxster 'S' with the same wheels, in the Alps when i had one. (spooky)

I do as many Saturdays as i can get, as i don't like taking a day off work if i can avoid it.

Looking forward to it already !!!

While I can see the benefits of the track insurance, the 'discount for members' from PCGB seems to be a bit of a con, since that price is still way above that charged by other companies (like Easytrack) - I could easily insure my car for the difference.

The mini-Nurburgring you mention is probably Cadwell Park, although Oulton is quite undulating too.

Just spoken to Tim at Easytrack about the day, apparently last year they got around 43 RS's!

Paul,

Fair point on the price issue, however, i think the increased price is due to the fact that PCGB limit the number of cars on track more than they have to, to guarantee more time for everyone.

Worth the premium IMHO.

have to agree on the numbers at Porsche trackdays, last years Bedford day was superb,,,there were about 55 cars instead of the usual 95...perfect for finding out how late you can actually leave the braking...towards the end of the day there were about 3 cars on the whole circuit.

Glenn,

My understanding is that PCGB has not yet published any dates for the 2005 trackday season yet but that they will issue this in Porsche Post once they are ready?

Non-members can go - but they charge £50 extra (ish). Since you can join for £60 I don't know why you wouldn't...

Thanks. PCGB right? This is in no way a leading comment, but what is the standard of driving like on these events? Does it ever come across like ego over ability?
