There is a work around for the SBC peddle push counter problem. A reset of the counter via STAR.Engineer will need to know German!. Cost £140 compared to £1200.
Things that have gone wrong on mine (53 plate only 90K) are:
(1) Springs (all 4) - wearable part
(2) Voltage regulator on alternator - wearable part
(3) Diesel fuel pipe split - unexplained but cheap to replace
and thats it in 8 years of ownership
As said before engine is bomb proof. I use Mobil 1 5w30 oil and get the car serviced by an indie.

The pedal push reset will not fix a failing SBC pump. It will get rid of the error for another few thousand brake applications. Hopefully the motor doesn't give out in the mean time. I've driven a car with failed SBC, it's not a pleasant experience even at only 20mph.
A recon SBC pump can be had for around £500 now anyway.
