Elinchrom 500s issue

I bought three of those on Ebay this week. EL 500, the older model.
There is a problem with all three of them, the random recharge rate. Sometimes I can fire them at full power several times with no noticeable delay, sometimes at 1/4 I have to wait a minute or longer before being able to fire again. It's actually better at full power than at minimum, they seem to be able to shoot again quicker. And they don't recharge at the same time, even at the same power setting so they are useless because sometimes 1 fires, sometimes 2 and sometimes all 3.
It's nothing to do with wireless setup, it does the same with Elinchrome skyport, as slaves to Canon Speedlight and most importantly when pressing the Test button on them. The button lights up green within 1/2 sec or so showing that they're ready, but nothing happens when I press it, until some random moment when they decide to work again.
I really don't know what to with it, it was a very good deal and I'd like to keep them but working randomly like that they are just expensive studio decoration.
