I replaced mine a few years ago for a "PowerMax" item from Flea seller "Simonbbc". He is local to me and very helpful with follow up tech advice, as I had to sort some wiring out as the new distributor had the amplifier fitted to the main body rather than being an old Rover remote type. Don't you just love TVR wiring, only three colours....brown, brown or brown with brown stripes !
The usual type on later Wedges was the Lucas 35DLM8, with the ignition amp mounted on the side. However there are two versions, one of which has the vacuum capsule mounted pretty much diametrically opposite the amp and one that has the capsule at about 60 degrees from the amp: this latter type is preferred as it allows a better range of swing for setting the ignition timing.
Earlier V8s were fitted with the 35DM8 which used a remote ignition amp.
Obviously the Range Rover and SD1 share the distributor and I don't believe that Lucas or TVR changed anything (springs, bob weights etc.) on either type for Wedge applications.
