Theres a bloke coming to collect my beautiful Kef 104/2 speakers in an hour...theyre too big for my room and to be honest I need something smaller - thats the dilemma - with what?

I think Im going to struggle but there must be quality used speakers out there that will help me get over the separation?

Thanks

Paul

Can you give us more info to work with ?? If the KEFs are too big, what size limits are there for the replacement ? KEF is 280mm wide, 415mm deep and 900mm tall. How big is the room ? What's the Budget ? What amp are you using ? Do you like to listen at high volumes ?

Thanks, room is 15 x 15 feet, amp is a Rotel RC 970 pre and a RB981 power amp and front end is a FIIO X5 DAP playing FLAC and Hi-Res files......I like dynamics and power at low / med volumes...it wasn't the size per se of the 104's that were the problem rather I couldn't position them far enough out in the room to get them imaging etc, so wall standers would be good...thanks so far

AVI have well engineered crossovers, sound very transparent and image well.

I think KEF LS50 might fit the bill http://www.kef.com/uploads/files/en/review/LS50_HF...

Thanks, they look the right ballpark although the Kefs need to be free standers I reckon looking at them...the AVi's look like worthy of investigation! many thanks

When I sold my 104/2's on, I ended up with the Jamo Concert 8 as a replacement.

They offered the warm and prodigious bottom end of the Kef (to a degree) and gave the attack and responsiveness that the Kefs lacked with a lot of music. I'm happy I made the change but I still miss the Kefs.

I picked up a pair of PMC TB1 speakers on Ebay, and I'm blown away by the clarity and insight they give into music from such a small box.

are you looking specificlly for a bookshelf/standmount speaker?

I have a set of Kef XQ20s in black - sound sublime. On original KEF stands, not quite the bass extension of a floorstander but clarity and depth are amazing.

Look good to boot also:

Thanks everyone......too many options, oh well I did ask! getting by with a pair of Kef Q35.2's but I could weep at times......a narrow floor stander takes up the same room as a bookshelf on a stand so I think Ill look in that direction, especially as a quality stand is several hundred quid.
