Was just wondering if anyone could help me out with a little info. I saw someone posting about chipex recently and it looks like an excellent system, not that I have any stone chips externally on my car due to the paint protection, but what I do have are some on my door handle pieces where the seatbelt has swung back and hit them, I also have a little chip next to the ashtray. Would anyone know if chipex do a paint match for these? This is the interior of my car, sorry, only picture I have in my photo bucket!

Also, I like to make up my own discs for music in the car (since I have CD only, no iPod connection) but the stereo seems to have real issues with the discs I have, is there a brand you guys use that the car set up seems to like? (The discs I'm using seem to stutter a lot and sound quite poor)

Can't say I've tried in my Aston and its the newer version anyway but the usual tips to burning CDs are burn very slowly (x1 or x2) rather than as fast as your burner will go. You could also try the branded disks like Verbatim but I'n no idea if that will help, it used to make a difference when I was into this type of thing for other purposes.

I assume regular CDs work ok?

They do Jon, yes. The issue there is that I recently had a clear out and gave my entire CD and film collections to Barnardos, in an attempt to clear some space and do a bit of good. (They were taking up a ridiculous amount of space!) Everything is on hard drives these days, so didn't think I needed them. Now that I've had the Aston a fair bit I thought I'd change the discs that have been in there for 8 months, and that's when I found the issue! I could just continue listening to the noise form the car. laugh

You could just have some Bluetooth streaming fitted ... I had a Parrot MKi9000 fitted which I use for Bluetooth phone calls in my 2006 Vantage, but also to stream internet radio, and there's an iPod connection in the glove-box, although I don't really use that bit. Hooking it all up to the fiber-optics is the tricky bit, which is what adds to the cost.

Yeah, I was speaking to a guy from a company that has been mentioned on here a few times. Told him I definitely wanted the bluetooth streaming added, gave him some dates I would be available for fitting and haven't heard anything since. I'm very much one of those, if you don't want my business I'm certainly not going to chase you types, so I can't see that happening now.

You are creating audio CDs not Data CDs full of MP3 or such like?

A lot of stereos will play MP3 from a data CD but I doubt your Aston is one of them.

I've got the Denison iPod connector in my glove box, and I just fitted a bluetooth dongle adapter to it.

Works really well and very chuffed with it.

I'd be of the same mindset. But there are plenty of others that can do this work - I used one local to me that came highly recommended and their work was first rate -

Parrot MKi9000
Hard-wired Tomtom Go 5000
Lights on buzzer fitted (mine didn't seem to have one...!)

They can also replace the crapnav with the newer Garmin, although I just went for a screen-mounted Tomtom instead as I couldn't justify the cost vs the value of my car. I know of a bloke planning to do it on a DBS though.

I watched a programme on tv (I know, what's tv), but kids are releasing albums on tape. Not 8 track but old cassette (Google it!) tape. Don't think I'll be looking for one for the car though.

I use Maxell CD-R 80 mins XL-II 80 Digital Audio bought on Amazon and they work fine if you burn them as music, not as MP3s.

Re the paint for the door handles, never seen anyone come up with a solution for it. Want it myself

asked Chipex if they could match the grey paint for my alloys. They said yes, but I would have to provide a paint code. I guess you would get the same response about interior colours.

Does the subwoofer also work with this device in use? I ask because, the last time I read up on this, people said that there were issues connecting the hands free kits to the stereo correctly such that all 6 speakers actually worked. Does yours not just deliver 2 speaker stereo without the subwoofer??

I think I'll just go the whole hog and remove the door sections and have them repainted completely, thanks for the answers though.

Are you talking about the metal door handle and the center console area?

If so I bought a touch up pen from Automotive Touchup dot com and was able to get a 99.9% match using a toyota color. Actually found the information on 6speed.

The one I got was 1/2 oz Paint pen, 2009 Toyota 4Runner, Galatic Gray Mica 1E9

Hope that helps smile

Can't believe I've just realised they're the same colour biggrin

My driver's door handle has an awful paint (or maybe lacquer) run on it. Can't believe it would've left the factory like it!

ETA: Actually, I think I'm wrong. My door handles are more of a plum colour. Just seen yours look more grey in the photos.
