So yesterday I dropped by buddy off to pick up his brand new 458 Speciale, a day I knew was looming, and one I was kind of dreading. You see me and my buddy have always been in competition, with similar budgets to spend on toys. When he ordered a 458 Speciale, he had never ordered a brand new Ferrari before, but of course Ferrari gleefully took his order.

And as ever I wanted to prove to him that I could do better, and I had already put in a LOI for the new 991 GT3RS in May 2014 to replace my 997.2 GT3RS.

But it turns out that its a no, I'm not allowed to order a 991 GT3RS because it seems it was never going to be available to anyone other than Porsches closest pals, so here I am feeling that I've been beaten, and Porsche has been beaten for no reason other than some odd marketing ploy so they can sell more Boxters.

There is simply no car in the Porsche range that I can buy that competes with the 458 Speciale. Turbo is fat & lardy, GT3 isn't quick enough (or obtainable) and GT2 doesn't exist

So I'm going to go talk to Mclaren, then Lamborghini, as it appears they want to build cars to sell them to people that don't want the Ferrari alternative, but I don't really want either brand.

I think its a sad day that Porsche has effectively stopped competing with Ferrari so that it an sell more volume of normo cars

In what sense "compete" with Ferrari?

I binned my Speciale order but I love my 991 GT3, a better road car and a knats whisker on track really, for more than 100k less money. The RS is going to be something else. Can't wait. I have no doubt a Speciale is easier to extract its performance than say a CGT but the Porsche is by far the better car, in fact it is the best car on the planet, my absolute miles. The Spec is just the current shiny new toy and the 488 will overshadow it.

Ferrari play the tufty club to perfection, more than anybody imo.

But good luck with McL and Lambo, they both make wonderful cars. You can't really lose out in this first world problem!

I don't get this, you're going to buy a car you don't want just to try and get one up on your mate?

Frankly that's about the most bonkers thing I've heard this week and that takes into account the bo!!ocks spouted by all the numpties trying to get into No. 10,

Should Porsche be forced to build a car for anyone that wants one?

Dito - everything you have said here happen to me thanks to the OPC in Wales but luckily I already had an order for a speciale as well, which arrived this week,

Its amazing, the car and the service - well done Ferrari (they are even winning Grand Prix's now as well)

I wouldn't spend another penny at my local OPC after the treatment I received, all the RS's are going to land in the hands of speculator's instead of

petrol heads - Watch the Dealer Principle's and their little salesmen and salesgirls beg and crawl for business in a few years time, that's what happened in the

80's !

Mr lord f whatever, give it a rest already. All RS are not going to land up with speculators. I'm not one, I know 8-10 others who are getting cars, they aren't speculators either. It's a car, you didn't get one, life goes on. Enjoy your spaz.

amazes me to see that some folks think that Porsche gives a rats arse about whether they will buy a Ferrari instead of a sold out RS

Wasn't it Enzo Ferrari who said "You should always build one less car than the market demands"?
Maybe the Speciale just isn't speciale enough, and the 991 GT3RS is!
