Can someone identify these brushes and where to get them?

Hi folks, moving on from my wiper motor thread....



As you can see the brushes aren't too clever.. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement set?

Oh, and to re-grease, is white grease ok to use or is it better to have the usual stuff?

This is listed as the brush set for the 14W motor, might work, might not.

The park switch is listed on this site for the 14W motor but it is the same as the 29W motor on the TVR (at least it fitted and worked on mine!)

I've compared the two and they look absolutely identical so, one ordered! I'll update after I've rebuilt it.

Mike, the last time I changed the bushes I used the ones off classic Mini, perfect fit.

I think the 14w motor is the one off the mini (and the black London taxi cab?).

Additional word of warning:
I took mine apart, cleaned and re-greased it but then the worm gear kept jumping on the main nylon gear and destroyed it!

There is a screw at one end for axial preload but I think I got that bit right...

When I picked it back up from TVR Power, Dom said that I'd got put it back together wrong and that there was a spacer missing.
He'd fitted a refurbed unit from Adrian.

I'm very careful when I take things to bits so I'm sure I didn't miss anything, my guess is that these things are quite temperamental and it's easy to get it wrong??

It would help if you put the corrected rated brush plate in for the 29W IMHO.

Update, re-assembled, 14v board and brushes inserted. And it works magnificently, three speeds and the wipers actually park themselves correctly now.

I'm pretty happy with that, the total outlay was £13 for the board and brushes Dave pointed out to me.

No, this is nearside front in the engine bay, near the windscreen...

Thats what i mean ,I think some fit under the dash .

Is there any chance of the wiper mechanism getting stiff ,where are the mechanicals ?

Basically it's all in the motor casing, it consists of the plastic final drive, connected to a rod which in turn connects to the worm drive which connects with the wipers.
Going perpendicularly in, is the actual motor itself (this is the round brass bit) the covers held with two long bolts.
Electrically, inside there is the board with brushes, which connects to the wiper park switch.
Not sure about later ones Wyn, I can take a picture of it in situ if it helps

And yes, water sometimes gets into the motor itself, so it's a case of cleaning that also, get the whole lot in bits and it's surprisingly logical to re-assemble.
