'57 ML280 Centre Rear Belt Stuck / Farnham area specialists?
Discussion
Just visiting my in-laws in Farnham and as is the trend I've been presented with a "test"
Father-in-law has been to the tip, dropped the seats and now the larger of the seat backs won't go back into place. The centre belt appears to be locked in position and no amount of gentle teasing seems to be working. It's as if the tensioner has been triggered.
I don't have any tools with me and the selection here is limited to a saw, a lawnmower and a hammer but even with the required bits I'm reluctant to start trying to blindly take the seat apart and I'm supposed to be on holiday.
Is this a relatively "known" issue and are there any fixes I can try with limited resources?
Failing this can anyone recommend a specialist in the Farnham area who might be able to look at it? They have a tendency to use main dealers and I don't want them to have to buy a new mechanism and hours of labour if it can be avoided.
Any help most appreciated,it would be handy to find them somewhere local for future issues and general maintenance.
