1298 cc, Supercharged Hayabusa, 398 BHP, this is a very serious car, I drove it at Ridge Park Motor Sport, 162 MPH at 10,800 RPM

Don't Caterhams get quite light at the front at speed?

Yes they do and it also it rips off the front wings I think someone did some aero work some years ago, but not many 7's can exceed 150ish anyways due to gearing, I run 3.19 diff with a Sadev overdrive box and a K20 Honda that revs to 9k 265 hub BHP and 166 LB FT and it's proper scary above 160, but then most things are!!!

The car runs a large front wing CSR front fenders. at NO time at high speed did the car feel unsafe.

Really? I guess it won't be long before some one claims 180 mph feels safe in a 7 !

The following is from comments from the link below: should help a healthy discussion:

The diffuser is a waste of money. Full stop. Period. Don't even bother.
The CSR front wings will reduce lift by about 3% (+/- ISTR)
The little aero winglets on the nose of the CSR help reduce lift another 3% (again, +/- ISTR).
There's nothing else you can tack on that helps out much, if at all.
Getting rid of the windscreen is about the best thing you can do.
"Doors" may provide a little better airflow over the car.
Putting some kind of roof on would help a lot
The 7 is an aerodynamic brick.

You may find the this document interesting it confirms the 7 is an aero dynamic Brick biggrin

I didn't like driving the 7 at a high top speed - I once got laughed at for lifting off half way down the back straight at Cadwell in an R500..... to me, 130+ didn't feel good at all.

I've owned 7s since 1975, all I can say is maybe I've just got use to it the car feel nervous at high speed. The other issue is alignment changes make a huge difference to the 7s stability.

getting used to the 7's nervousness at high speed does not make the 7 stable......its a brick, and does not have any real downforce....... even cars that do have downforce go unstable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFN_Gp1eHN0 end of discussion.

Of bloody course a Seven doesn't have any downforce; very few road cars do, despite sporting quite useless cosmetic diffusers and similar crap.

Well, sort of. Whilst it isn't all that great in Cd (OK, it is awful), what really matters is CdA. So it might be a bit bricky, it is a small brick rather than a wall smile

Motorbikes have a Cd around the same as a 7, but they are even smaller in frontal area.

Quite often it the gearing that makes the most difference. And the fact that the horsepower needed to overcome drag is dependent on CdA and Velocity, not bhp or weight. So the 7's fairly low power (despite huge power to weight) is also a problem.

162mph....seems interesting.
