Its an easy programme to watch, who doesn't love Cornwall and its always sunny, the cast are great the story is easy and its all filmed so nicely. My question is whats funny about the main character? Just turned it off after watching him presenting awards at sports day with his lovely wife at her wits end. Are people sitting at home finding this hilarious?? I find it toe curlingly difficult, so is the joke meant to be he has a serious autism and no ones noticed? I'm sorry I just don't get it? Do you?

Your post has confused me!Its an easy programme to watch, who doesn't love Cornwall and its always sunny, the cast are great the story is easy and its all filmed so nicely. Initially it is an easy programme to watch with a great cast/ story but you end on finding the main character 'toe curlingly' difficult

I've only seen the odd episode, yes he seems cantankerous but very good at his job as well.
I believe he is supposed to be HF Aspergers, not Autistic. I don't think it's written to be laughed at and not sure people do. Do they?
His wife has no patience, nor does she make any moves to understand what is wrong with her husband (because she doesn't know or realise that it's a condition) - there are faults on both sides. It makes for interesting viewing and there have been a few programs/characters with this condition in recent years, but I don't think that in any of the programs it comes out though.

Agreed, its not meant to be comedy, however his blunt truth telling dose raise the odd smile! His manner is just part of the difficulty he has fitting in to life as a GP in a small seaside town when he was a top London Surgeon. In his former life he could probably mask his condition, but in his GP role its very obvious.
I'm not normally one for long running drama's, but I do like this one.
