Hi,
Slowly, but slowly I am starting believing that my new car is soon coming. Admittedly, I have never read a single line of spec, never driven one, just sat in R8 in a showroom in Cairns. And then I ordered.
Now, I actually went on the HSV website and started checking spec, then onto VX website, too and my question is, does come with all of those features / toys like blind spot alarm, intelligent parking, standard Satnav, etc?
Seems like a lot more "standard" spec than the E1 I currently have.
Also, when it comes to servicing, do you think it should be ok to have it serviced from day dot with WP or MF? Or should it be VX for the warranty purposes?
Finally, does the bimodal exhaust only alter in its sound when the driving mode is selected? Or can it be adjusted independently? I am guessing that by selecting the race mode you sharpen the exhaust sound, but also make the suspension much harsher. Is it at all possible to set the exhaust to loud (permanently)?
Thank you.
Bart

1. Yes, they come with the toys - not sure about the Nav though.Slowly, but slowly I am starting believing that my new car is soon coming. Admittedly, I have never read a single line of spec, never driven one, just sat in R8 in a showroom in Cairns. And then I ordered.

2. As Vauxhall will tell you, block exemption means that any competent mechanic can service the cars without affecting warranty by law. What this actually means is yes, they will honour the letter of the law, but they may not look on your case so favourable for good will gestures, if you choose to take the car out of the franchise system.
3. No idea. Hopefully Sarge or Barney will chime in here.

1. EVERYTHING is standard, the Nav is a bit naff as it doesn't understand postcodes, but once you have your destination entered it integrates really nicely and directions come up on the HUD.2. 2. As above
3. In Touring mode the exhaust is quiet at idle, in Performance or above the exhaust is open at idle. It still opens and closes depending on rpm/load, will try and get a video of the dynamic graph from the EDI of mode. There is no full override mode though.
Not sure if the GEN-F exhaust is the same format as the E3, IE, the exhaust works off the ECU (sounds like it tho), but, WP made me a loom and fitted a switch inside the cabin so it over rides the ECU.
I can now have it quiet all the time, or loud all the time............which is nice

Thank guys.
I have lived with the nav in the current car purely for the integration, and I am sure I will be ok with that too. BTW, does the car support BT Audio for music from the phone? Added bonus if it does.
Exhaust, oh well... I am sure there might be something planned for it down the line. Like the WP conversion taking it up to 700

As for your BT Audio question above, the E3 supports it, and works quite well, so I would of thought the Gen-F would too.
Ok, so am I assuming the switch sort of controls the butterfly valve in the backboxes? I could probably then introduce a relay and have it all hidden somewhere underneath the dash. I would not want to wish loosing warranty over a small thing like that. Or I just go and see the WP, too.
R8VXF, any plans to do something with the side mirror caps and the spoiler? They are just satin black plastic from what I have seen. Looks utter horrible. Vinyl car wrap is the first thing that comes to my mind

If its the same as the E3's bimodal, this can be a DIY job. Taken from here:http://my.hsv.com.au/myHSV/forum/topics.aspx?ID=30...

how to modify the EDI to allow the Bi-Modal to remain open whenever you like without having to disconnect the vacuumed lines and losing the EDI functionality to adjust the Bi-Modal.
It's actually really simple and you only need a 12 volt switch and 1-2 meters of wire depending where you want the switch.
Step 1. Remove the glovebox - There are 2 screws below the glovebox facing up and 5 screws in the glovebox, 3 facing up and 2 hidden behind the plastic caps either side of the glovebox. The drivers side cover goes around the boot release button.
Step 2. Make sure you key is out of the ignition and the radio is off. Or you might be heading into Holden to get the EDI reset.
Step 3. Look up (and smile) and you will see a small black box conveniently labeled 'HSV Motec EDI' discconnect the main (the large one) wireing harnes and cut the tape away exposing the wireing.
Step 4. Locate the thin orange wire ( the thick orange wire is the main 12v supply) and cut it in half.
Step 5. Connect your switch (using the 1-2meter wire as above) to the orange wires. One end of the orange wire goes to one side of the switch and, well you guest it... Connect the other end of the orange wire to the other side of the switch.
Step 6. Mount your switch (some people may want to swap step 5 and 6 around) somewhere handy. I mounted mine behind the stero fascia directly above where the ashtray woul go. This offers easy access but also hids the switch so no one knows about it
Step 7. Reconnect the EDI wireing harness and install the glovebox.
Spep 8. Enjoy.....

Didn't think E3's are vacuum operated, it's done via the ECU?
Not sure about the standard HSV exhaust on the E3, but I think the WP bi-modal is vacuum operated, isn't it? Flips open and closed almost instantly too.The later are ECU operated?
I could be wrong, and won't be shocked if I am to be honest
