tyre size 3000S

sorry to bring up i am sure an old subject.
I understand on my 3000S the original tyres were 185/80 14" dia.
I need to fit new tyres but if i stay with 185/80 there is not much choice.
If i go to 185/70 the Rolling dia is smaller and the speedo will be wrong.
I think if i fit 205/70 the Rolling dia will be very close to original for the speedo + more choice of rubber.
The big question is will 205/70 tyres FIT!!!!!
What have you other guys tried

I've got FALKEN 205/70R14's fitted on mine. Only problem I've found is that they won't fit under the bonnet so you will need a smaller tyre for the spare and if you get a puncture you will need to carry it home somewhere else in the car.

Originals were 185s (nominally 185/82)
Turbo Cars had 195/70 as standard

before i buy the new tyres i will check the speedo reading with my GPS/nav sat to see the error.
At the moment i have 185/70 fitted which should mean my speedo is reading high.
My car is fitted with a 2.8 Capri 5 speed late gearbox type 9.

Similar issue with Scimitar GTEs.
Most fit 195/70/14 as the best compromise.
