Guys,

I think I need to consider a new clutch soon. It slipped a couple of times about a year or so ago when in 3rd gear under quite strong acceleration uphill. Nothing since.

Until last week, towing the caravan along the A303 in 5th gear up an incline. I put my foot down slightly and the revs went up to 5k! Changed down to 4th and all OK.

So I'm assuming these are early warning signs - the car has done 89k miles now. The main problem is that we're taking the caravan to France in July and I don't want it to give up over there....

Audi have quoted me £1793.00 for a clutch and DMF which I'm obviously not going to pay.

I've got a price of £519.00 for LUK clutch, DMF and bolts from Euro Car Parts and I'm waiting to hear back from an experienced mechanic I know to see if he'll be up for doing it.

I'm presuming I should really change the DMF at the same time? It's the expensive part (about £380) but seems wise to put it in at the same time, I'm not going to be changing car any time soon.

Thoughts?

Whoops - it appears we have been here before!!!

So, 14 months and 13k miles since the last occurrence.

I guess I'll wait and see if it happens again in the next couple of months before I decide.
