Stondon Motor museum closed, interesting auction

I'm not sure if many people knew of this small private museum, it was In Beds. I went about 10 years ago. Fully of shabby cars, some in Polytunnel/greenhouse type structures, but genuine & quite interesting.

Anyway it appears that they have shut there doors for one last time, and are auctioning all of the cars/motorcyles.

Some quite interesting, some quite mundane stuff.

Worth a look !

Interesting, quite an eclectic mix! I rather like the SAM transporter complete with missile, not sure where to park it though!

NO, iirc they had one and a chap bought it and in return made a replica.

Oh wow I had forgotten about the Myreton Motor Museum. It used to be a holiday treat to go here. When I was a teenager I would cycle there. Spent many a happy hour wandering aimlessly around. I think the last time I visited was the early 1990s. Would love to go back again and have a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

I bet it hasn't changed at all, I went for a wonder around and when my Dad visited I took him there followed by the Museum of Flight. A great day out as the museums are completely the opposite to one another in size and approach! The Myreton museum was utterly charming though.

Myreton. Blimey. My father used to work for the owner (a farmer and proper motorist). I went there quite often, even as a birthday treat with little schoolmates who climbed on the exhibits. The manager of the museum liked military vehicles more than civilian ones He used to find abandoned cars on remote Highland estates and drag them to the museum. There was an overspill workshop/shed. He once found a 1920's Rolls Royce Shooting Brake which wouldnt quite fit in this building, so he sawed a couple of feet off.

I remeber a Citroen Kegresse (a halftrack) and a Corgi folding motorbike for parachute troops. And a Cooper single seater of some sort.

The manager had a Mini pickup. He was a pipe smoker and the uncarpeted footwells had a thick layer of dead matches in them.
