Hanging on for grim death!

Well, its been over 2 months I think since the company I work for went to the wall. We're still here though!

Honestly getting a bit fed up with it now and with each day my opinion that the administrators should have taken the company out back and put two rounds in its head strengthens. This long drawn out version is very tortuous.

Apparently there are irons in the fire, but neither fill me with hope. Can't see a future with either of them. One surely won't fund it properly and the other will surely have all the IP and documentation whisked back off to Turkey with us out on our arses not long after.

So...good places to look for jobs in automotive? research and development? Not sure whether to hang around and see what happens or just cut the cord and go do something else. Not even sure whether to stick with engineering... can't say my experience of it in the working world has really kept my interest for it. Don't hate it, don't enjoy it.

I know what you mean i was kept on by the Administrators but I bailed after 6 weeks I couldnt stay any longer even though I didnt have a job.It was like watching the post mortem of a dear friend.

Working in admin is a nightmare!

I somehow managed to work for nearly 6 months in "special liquidation" following working under nationalisation from my joining...as soon as the liquidation news broke all everybody did was view the sidebar of shame non-stop and work strict contracted hours...

You were told what the reality of working in engineering was like many times on your man previous threads. You largely ignored us all.
I know I really shouldn't, but I can't help myself - when the company first announced it was in difficulties, why did you not immediately start looking for a new job?

Anyway, automotive in Midlands - loads of employers and work around. JLR on different sites. Ricardo, R-R. Between those 3 you should be able to find someone reasonably local to you, but obviously that depends on how precious you are about your travelling arrangements.

I didn't because Millbrook actually popped up very quickly and put in an offer. They paid around 50k upfront to get exclusivity on buying us out. It was pretty much a done thing when the PE guys who own Millbrook rejected it because they didn't see it fit with their business model. Millbrook CEO wasn't happy I don't believe, but that 50k paid our wages that month!

Besides not everyone is a cold, caustic bd like you who would drop it like its hot as soon as it goes pear shaped. I do want to see the projects survive. But patience has worn thin now. They are just interested in flogging it off now so they don't have to keep paying us.

Our FD is begging us to hang about "for the sake of week or so, just to see what the full story is". Already told him we've waited 2 months and nothing's happened. I'm off.

Where are Riccardo ? Not interested in RR, know a few guys there who say its really not great.
