How did everyone cope with any waiting or 'not knowing' whilst doing a deal on your cerb?

I've lost my apetite, been doing too much chain smoking and chin scratching, I even got up earlier than ususal, tried blasting choons all day, pulled a few extra funky dance floor moves whilst brushing teeth this morning and am being extra nice to clients which cant be bad...

Its like being in love, only better and worse at the same time. A hint of things to come praps

Wish mine was that simple. I turned up, drove it, liked it, wanted to buy it. Then had it checked over to see what needed doing (as was buying private). Went back, bought it, drove it to the garage to get the work done. That was mid December. Got the call today to say it is finally finished, but can't collect it before I go on holiday so will be another 2 weeks before I drive it. So after almost 2months ownership I will have driven precisely about 15miles (not including the test drives etc). Brilliant - although at least now I will appreciate it when I do have it.

I spent the week buying "kit" for the car. You're almost guaranteed to need the following at some point:

Digital tyre pressure meter
* Mobil 1
* Decent toolkit (this one's the best for spending ages passing time)
* Nice alloy tax-disc holder
* New headunit for the stereo? (Possibly not this one)
* New can of tyre-weld
* Locking wheel nuts
* Possibly TVR logoed centre caps for the wheels (depending on what it comes with)
* Leven handbrake handle (essential, really! )
* Spare big fuse (grab this from the dealer)
* Sort out any flag-stones/whatever needed to make sure the car's low doors will open where necessary, and to enable you to use...
* Small trolley jack + axle stands (cheapo Argos one gets my vote)
* Caliper lacquer for the brakes?

That should tie up a couple of evenings/lunchtimes in telephone orders alone. And plenty of weekends fun in tweaking the car with everything ordered.

Why?
Cos if you're running low profile tyres (i.e. 18" wheels), it's bl**dy hard to tell when they've lost a couple of PSI, but it REALLY screws the handling up - even a few pounds difference. (They're only a fiver or less from Halfrauds)

Standard advice in the manual is Mobil. 5w40 if I remember correctly (I've been working on my other car for a while recently, so the rating for Tiv oil escapes me at the mo). Thicker oil is probably a slightly better bet... but take a look through the postings on this forum for a full break down of that

No spare wheel with the Cerb, hence a can of tyre-weld... compressed air + glue to seal puncture & reinflate. It may come with one already, but who knows how long it'll have been kicking around for.

I'd suggest giving Peninsula/some other Tiv-place a ring, Halfords will scratch their heads for hours then give up.

Say "big fuse for Cerby" to any dealer/indy, and they'll know the one. It's the one for the alternator (usually a 100amp jobby, but I think the original spec was more like 80amp). Because of its placement in the engine bay, it can corrode quite easily.

The drive at my last place was next to the neighbour's higher drive, so I couldn't open the car's door as it was so low. Similarly, most trolley jacks, etc. won't go under the car without a bit of extra clearance... so a couple of paving stones to drive the wheels on to can help greatly.


One other thing: Get a paint touch-up stick ordered, too.
