Caterhams seem to be like flypaper to motorcyclists.

Safety barriers often block the view of such a low car and in the minds of some (not so smart) riders, not being able to see is as good as seeing a clear road.

Here's one guy who was looking to dive onto my bonnet:

Loved the fact that the driver wasn't gesticulating all over the place...
Just nodded to the passenger and kept on going. Class.

ETA. Just watched it again, some splicing / editing might have me giving him more praise than deserved rolleyes

Cuts both ways though dunnit?
Granted the biker was, essentially, on the wrong side of the road but on Stelvio there is no centre line so it's all a bit arbitrary.
Biker was a tit for cutting the corner.
Seven driver was a bit optimistic thinking the pass would be free from tits on bikes.
It's not a great driving road, more of a scenic cruise in amongst the other tourist traffic. Genuinely blatting on Stelvio is risky for all involved.

Centre line or not surely you're meant to stay on the right hand side of the road?

Having said that I agree with a lot of what you said; both parties were incredibly lucky.

Yes, you are.
You're gonna rely on that though?

The other half was driving the 7 yesterday for the first time since last year and she had to shove the anchors on and come to a complete stop on a NSL road because an idiot coming the other way was trying to overtake 4 cars while he came round a bend!

Happens everywhere, even on wide 2 lane roads.

No, I certainly wouldn't. Whatever and wherever I'm driving I never underestimate the inadequacy of most road users. That attitude has served me well over the years.

However, that doesn't make which side of the road one chooses to use as being an 'arbitrary' decision does it?

I always expect drivers coming the other way to be driving at least as fast as I am. Really helps to prevent ring twitching moments.

No, it doesn't make the decision arbitrary but that's not what I said. What I'm getting at is the rights and wrongs of who was where is largely irrelevant when a car hits a bike or vice versa.

Oh, sorry, I thought you did:

Oh goody, a quoting war rolleyes
How about if I said something along the lines of "The biker may have been on the 'wrong' side of the road but there's no centre line to encourage keeping left or right and, in addition to that, people (on or in all forms of vehicles) are prone to taking some slightly random lines on Stelvio so arguing about who's right and wrong is a bit like trying to decide who had the best cabins on Titanic"
Better?
