Are they adjusted hot or cold?
Want to give mine some love, and it doesn't seem sensible to take the top end covers off twice if the Tappets need doing hot.

According to the workshop manual, they are adjusted cold, you will need different shims to change the clearence, so it may not be that easy an option for DIY.

Thanks for that. Not doing the Tappets myself, just thought it's better to strip down polish and paint the intake plenums runners and rocker covers then low loader the car to an indie to do the job and reassemble.

Definitely cold. To be honest, by the time you took the intake, belt covers and valve covers off the engine would be cold anyway! smile

While the intake is off change the big cooling hose underneath it, they don't last long, even the modified one. The valve timing needs setting up once the clearances are done, you will need a few special tools to do it. If you are painting the valve covers be sure to clean the paint off the rearmost earth wire fixing points, or it'll run like crap afterwards. Make sure the gaskets are trimmed neatly, you can use a small file to get an accurate fit around the cam seal area, don't use to much silicon. When it goes back together place close attention to the inlet pipes onto the throttle body, if you place the jubilee clip in the wrong position in relation to the throttle linkage the throttle can stay wedged open on full throttle!

That's all good info, thanks.
Rardleys will be putting it back together as I'll trailer it over once the bits come back. ATM I'm having problems getting the paint for the plenums and runners and the rocker covers and Maranello Classics can't help.frown

I use the the black wrinkle spray cans from VHT, two thick coats then a light coat of normal heatproof silver spray over the top.
Rardleys will do a good job, great bunch over there....
