Someone has decided that it'd be a laugh to lay a large branch over the bonnet of my Chim leaving a few small scratches.

After I've finished bowing to this persons mastery of humour and laughing at just how funny it is to damage a car that they would never be able to afford in their sad pathetic lives, I need to sort out the scratches.

Can I use T-cut on a TVR?

Oooo - I think I'd keep off the T-cut.

How about trying a more professional job by your local "Chipsaway"

Try something not so abrasive first off like Auto Glym Super Resin polish, you'll be surprised at what this takes out!

I've just had to go through a similar exercise and achieved very good results, i.e. scratches removed / hidden.

1. clean car thoroughly
2. touch up 'deep' scratches with a super thin artists brush and 'blob' the paint so that it is proud/level with the scratch
3. leave one week to harden
4. clean car again
5. An hours hard labour with Autoglym Paint Renovator (has a cutting agent so take care)
6. Couple of coats of Autoglym Super Resin polish
7. Finish with Autoglym High Gloss Finish or P21

I thought I would need a re-spray but am massively pleased with the results from the above.

Other people will advise about other products, but the above worked well for me.

Good luck & take your time

p.s. meant to say that there is some very good advice on how to treat scratches on Autoglyms website

Agree with N17, Autoglym Paint Renovator is excvellent stuff (way better than T-Cut IMO).. I've been amazed at the horrors I've been able to remove from various cars with this stuff. Its particularly effective if the scratches are just in the laquer ratther than the paint underneath as you just "thin" the laquer down in that area to remove the scratch. Eccellent

There is a 3M product called "hand glaze" it trade only so you won't find it in Halfwits. It is non silicone based like most pro stuff and has to be polished after. If a scratch does not come out with that it ain't gonna happen.
Easily the best light abrasive you can buy, much better than even the Autoglym pro range(used both).

There's another product which is specifically for removing marks in lacquer/topcoat. It is also from 3M and is called Finesse it. Again, only from trade places. Works a treat on our TT (black) and my A6 (Racing Green).

Good stuff but takes a lot longer to get the same job done as "hand glaze", it is really designed to work with a polishing machine.

I suppose it must depend on how fast your elbow can bend
