I'm surprized at the flack MK gets. At present it is the most car friendly city I've seen in the UK (despite the efforts of the labour, and lib-dems there). Where the grid takes all through traffic at NSL and the roads on the estates are purely for access with plenty of greenery to punctuate the surroungings and disguise the grid from those in the estates, unlike other pre-planned cities. I'ts a neo radburn design that works and it worth fighting tooth and nail for to save from the anti-car 'speed kills' gits.

I agree - you can get places safely and quickly in MK. Lots of nice roundabouts linked by NSL roads!

The main part of the problem seems to be that quite a lot of the residents of Netherfield, Beanhill and Eaglestone (less affluent villages) are afraid to use the red routes (network of footpaths that allow pedestrians to get from one place in the city to anywhere else without having to cross a single road) and underpasses because of all the chavs that hang out in them so they prefer to risk crossing an NSL road: solution police the red routes and get rid of chav gangs, errect barriers to prevent road crossing and introduce a bylaw to give FPNs to the jaywalkers who go onto the grid roads.
