I'd like to take my son to watch the BTCC on Sunday and it'll be the first race I have taken him to (he is 6). I was wondering if the Starkeys parking area might be an option, as we can sit and watch the race from the car, and then wonder down in to the main spectator areas also.

I am unsure if he'll actually like it once we are there and we may only go for a couple of hours (which I am more than happy to do). He sometimes doesn't like crowded places, and struggles to adjust to certain environments as he has ASD.

Has anyone parked here before, and if you have - what is the view like? Will my little 'un be able to see the action or should we just bite the bullet and get amongst it?

Assuming it's the same place on the infield before it was all dug up then this was my favourite spot, you'll be able to park the car on the hill with a good view of Craners to Coppice with the option of going down the hill and standing at the fence right next to the track.

I can't say what it'll be like now but if it's anything like it was then it'll be perfect for you. I can't believe they are charging £12 extra though, it used to be free to take your car onto the infield!

We were looking into this as it's a long way from Cornwall to Donington should it rain (it won't!) but Starkeys parking area has now sold out.

Has it?

I paid for a ticket in there just this morning?

It has within the last few hours it seems, as I was just about to book.

After the monsoon of Thruxton a few years ago, I wait till closer to the time to book tickets.

starkeys is good, or do what we used to do when I was a nipper, buy a fishing shelter http://www.sportsdirect.com/dunlop-fishing-shelter...

and sit at the top of Hollywood or the old hairpin and you can see loads/keep your lad dry without being in the car
