Stepper Motor setting alteration

I seem to remember recently someone posting about a problem with low idle / cutting out after fitting a new stepper from Racing Green (or somewhere similar) I also had a new, brass coloured one and had the same problem.

When I checked the new motor against the old one I found it to be slightly longer, therefore it was protruding further into the motor housing.

Using a bit of barn door engineering thinking the solution I arrived at was fitting a washer (approx 2mm thick) over the stepper thread before the fibre washer to act as a spacer on the basis that this would retract the valve further when throttle butterfly is closed.

Good News, it works! individual cases may need some experimentation with washer / spacer thicknesses but the principal seems to work.

The longer ones appear to be nasty Chinese rip off's so no points to Racing green if it was the cost of an OEM One. I think a Chinese one is about £15-20. You can grind a few mm off the end of the shaft as well as your solution, but you do need to be able to get the shaft out.
