Sorry to post a downhearted thread, but I just heard the news that I lost a friend yesterday morning to the M25. He was 23.
I know that we all love our cars round here, but remember they don't make us invincible, so please, please everyone be careful. Sometimes we forget they can be so dangerous.

Sorry to here the news. I had a similar loss almost exactly a year ago; this bloke (18 at the time) had been at a party (he hadnt been drinking), misjudged a corner and rolled the car into a tree. That slowed me down considerably as I was just getting to that cocky stage of thinking I wdnt crash about 6 months after passing my test.
In september 2003 someone died in a road accident who, while I hadn't met him many times could have been a much better friend than many other people I have known and called friends. He was 14 at the time, and cycling home from school, with another boy, I believe their wheels accidentally clipped and he went over the handlebars into an oncoming car. Instant death, but is quite a shock, especially when you are 16 and someone you knew, only just older than your younger sister dies this way.
I don't know why he chose to, but to my knowledge it was on a NSL road, and without a cyle helmet. If he had worn a helmet, he probably would have survived, but would have been brain damaged to the point of being a 'cabbage'. Since this, I am much more careful to choose roads that aren't too bad, and to wear a helmet on the road.
I hadn't met him many times, but it has taken a long time to learn to accept.
P.S. If anyone involved in this incident reads this and wishes me to delete this post, I will respect their wishes.
