Back tire for XJ600
Discussion
Hi Guys/Gals,
Happy New Year to you all, i know its a bit late but ive not been on since before the new year.
Was out today charging the bikes battery and noticed that I desperatly need a new back tire.
Can anyone suggest anywhere I can get a back tire for mucho cheapness in the central belt of Scotland?
Here is the specs:
Pirelli Sports Demon 130/70/18 M/C 6.3H
Yamaha XJ600N
I dont know if this is a good tire or not for standard road use in most weathers! Any tips on a tire to go for would be great too, as this is my first time buying a tire for a big bike.
I also noticed a few months back at my old work that when one of my collegues bikes ( honda hornet 600 ) was parked next to mine my tire seemed very thin compared to his.
Is this just because his bike is more sporty and you can fit a wider tire or is it possible to put a wide tire like that on my bike?

First off. It is TYRE.

First off. It is TYRE.Anyway. Jim Allan in Falkirk is about as cheap as you'll get for tyres. Your tyre looks thinner because it is thinner. Don't fret about it. It is meant to be.
Ah so it is tyre

I gave Jim Allens a phone and they quoted me £69 for the same tyre and 12.50 to fit it, think this sounds ok but what do I know!!

And you can't put one on a divvy.
Whats a divvy???

I'm guessing I cant put on a big tyre then?
Edited to fix spelling again

Whats a divvy???Sorry I dont really know any bike terminology.

Jim Allan is usually as cheap as you get. Phone other shops like Pinnacle in Stirling and see how they compare. A Divy is a short name for a Yamaha xj600 Diversion.
A I see thats what a Divy is. My bike isnt actually a Divy though its a XJ600N which I have been told isnt actually a diversion but I may well be mistaken.
I would give Pinnicale a try but if i save any money from hem I would probable end up spending it on fuel getting to stirling as I live in Cumbernauld ( I hate having to admit to that).
Cheers for the advice guys I think what I will do is save up the pennies and just go get that pirelli from Jim Allans.
To be honest I dont think I would notice the difference between different types of tyres anyways as I dont do track days or anything like that, I just use my bike for commuting and fun on the weekends.
