Rear Tyres

Afternoon All

Think I need new rears as small surface cracks appearing in the sidewall. Been on the car since I bought it (7 years) so probably due to be changed - standard 400 so 225/50/16 size.
Black Circles seem to have a huge selection, but any recommendations?
Are Toyo's still the best way to go? No track days, just standard road use.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Just put Rainsport 3s on the back of mine, very impressed with the grip on them TBH, got them from Camskill and had the local ETS fit them.

Has anyone used Toyo PXT1's? These are being stocked by my local fitter.

Just bought a full set of Bridgestone RE002 from tyreleader.co.uk. First impressions are good.

15s are about £60, 16s are just over £70.

I've also gone from Toyo T1R's to Uniroyal RainSport 3's. I'm happy with my decision.

Me too, and they're W-rated.

I've just had toyos put on the front and its transformed the grip on the front. Admittedly the tyres taken off were nasty crap put on there by the previous owner, but it now feels planted. I'm going to do the rears next month, toyos again.

I recommend you do it soon - the fronts can and will outperform the rears for grip & you'll find in wet or on diesel spillage etc your backend overtaking your front. I know from a previous experience even with good but older Bridgestones on the rear after changing fronts to T1R's.....

I went from Toyo T1S to the Uniroyal Rainsport 3. The Uniroyal's are, imho, better. Hold up well on the track too.

OOI what's the wear rate like on the Rainsport 3?

Done two trackdays (although one was a washout) and about 1000 miles on mine. Seem to hve plenty of meat left.
