Throttle Body, Too Much Grease?

Whenever I've got the bonnet up (fluids and cleaning only, no problems yet) I notice that the throttle body/spring mechanism is caked in black, well......crap.

Obviously this was greased or oiled at some stage but with use it's collected dirt and looks awful. The plenum could do with a clean too.

I'm tempted to spray the TB with Jizer and someone suggested brake cleaner for the plenum. Is this a good idea or not?

just wipe off the grease with a rag all you need to do is remove the horrible looking stuff you need to leave the stuff that lubricates it all

I thought I could degrease the whole thing to remove the cack and then relubricate it. I'll see how much I can get off with my hanky.
