...might diluted vinegar work? Anyone tried it?

This product is slightly acidic and meant to work: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/gyeon/q2m-water...

Full Vantage restoration story here - very useful for us newbies to this new and vast array of cleaning products (I used to be a hosepipe and Fairy Liquid man - but joined a support group and have since been cured)biggrin

Yep diluted white vinegar would work.
Better to rinse off car with RO or softened water so there is no dissolved minerals to bake on wink

Nice write-up in the link provided but, FYI, the boot and bonnet on the Vantage are not made of carbon fiber.

Try a magic sponge/eraser.

Google them, they're fantastic things.

I had the same issue, no matter what I tried I couldn't get it looking as good as I wanted. Took the easy way out and took it to the local body shop and had it re sprayed satin black. biggrin

They are, I used a couple to renovate the steering wheel on my S2000
I wouldn't use it on a polished metal surface though wink
