I'm looking at buying one. What should I look out for also what would be a good company to insure with?

fabulous cars - just try and find low owner looked after accident free car. Check RMS and borescope. I have my cars with classic line and they've insured six cars for the same price as Aviva/Admiral wants for just one of them!

Never heard of Bore Scoring on Boxsters, much more prevalent on Caymens.

RMS leak
The rear main seal stops oil from leaking from where the crankshaft exits the engine to meet the flywheel. There’s a fair chance that this seal will leak at some stage in the car’s life, leading to nothing more dramatic than a small puddle on your garage floor. It’s a simple fix and best done when the clutch is changed. Not that other minor leaks can occur from this area which may be misdiagnosed as coming from the RMS. A common problem but not one to keep you awake at night.

Thread hyjack - same issue for me. Is the intermediate shaft bearing a real concern, or internet wisdom?

You know i looked at it on the net on thought what a lovely car but heck of a trek to Sussex. She was only £8.5k wasn't she? My Mrs didn't like the colour when I showed Zanzibar to her but I should have just bought her. WC marking her up to £16.5k is taking the proverbial though!

In the states, 3.2 engines started in the 2000 model year and were in a car labeled with the Boxster S model designation. Most of the engines had an IMS failure rate of about 1% per car per year which Porsche admitted to about 3-4 years ago in a lawsuit.

To my mind, the best 986s were the 1999 and the 2003-2004. (Owned a '99 2.5 and an '01S 3.2, both wonderful cars and quite reliable for me.)

I think that fifth line should be 3.2 otherwise it's a duplicate of the fourth line, so I've corrected it. Looks like you have the small single row.

My car is a 55 plate early 06 car, so I have no idea what's in mine.
