PCM2.1 Dead screen - what are the options?

Hi,
Over the last few weeks the screen on my 2008 997 PCM2.1 has been playing up - intermittent lines and going black - and it has now gone altogether (radio etc works, but display blank). I contacted Revtronic who are recommended on here but they have emailed back saying "Sorry. No Porsche parts available".
Anyone know of a reliable company repairing these?
All ideas re other options welcome.

Hi have someone remove unit and send it to Maple Audio in Bath 01225 442180, they have replaced three screens on customers cars for me, and worked perfect everytime.

That's seven year old technology. Have a modern unit fitted. I got a Pioneer AVIC thing fitted to my Vectra. It's been excellent.

Can you get aftermarket units that are direct fits? And do they look ok?

These guys do a lot of repairs for us and also fix Pcm 2.1 with dead screens.

Yes. Most manufacturers of two DIN units do a range of trim matching surrounds. I think these look OK but you'll need to make up your own mind. THe Pioneer unit I put in my Veccy hooked up to the stalk/wheel controls and does all the things you expect.

Thanks. Didn't realise there were so many other options. Now just need to find someone in Glos/ Bristol / Birminghma / Oxford area that can supply and fit it properly. Any recommendations?

Some of the double din units now look almost like small iPads in the dash and you can get the matching surround so it doesn't scream aftermarket too much.

I insisted on keeping my PCM2.1 to preserve the factory look for years, but have now replaced with a Pioneer SPH-DA120 and it is just so much more flexible and user friendly that I wish I had done it earlier, and I think it look quite good too.

It is totally reversible so I can go back to the PCM if I sell the car, but I would have thought that there is an increasing number of prospective owners who would probably prefer the aftermarket set now.

Hey kingston12, I've basically decided to get the SPH-DA120. Seems I'll need an adaptor for the MOST set up. Also keen to ensure I get a really great facia. Do you have photos of yours and advice on how you went about fitting it? Thanks

I went Pioneer in the end and they do 997 fascia that is perfect match. Looks like factory.

Maple fixed mine and you can use a courier to ship it there and back. Fitting and removal is the tricky bit but any good independent Porsche service garage can do this for you... must be one in your area.
