Latest EVO bog standard Cayman 2.7 laps faster than Exige S

Other than that, it appears a glowing review of the Lotus

'nothing but praise for it really with the only fly in the ointment being that I didn't switch out the front tyres at the same time as the rears (puncture forced me to change them prematurely before the test).
I am surprised that the "standard" base spec Cayman was so quick but it was well suited to anglesey where the lotus would definitely benefit from a limited slip diff. Couple that to the fact I was in the passenger seat for the timed laps in the exige (I'm at least 20kg's heavier than Dan) and I guess that's why unfortunately it didn't come out on top. Guess you can only blame me for that one. At the time he did say he thought it was the fastest but upon review looks like the porsche just pipped it.'

Just read the article. Like it mentions the Lotus probably wasn't 100% on form and usually more than likely would have taken the win. Still hats off to the Cayman, That Exige is a pretty formidable opponent on Track. For the base model Cayman to even come close to it with so much less bhp/ton shows what a good job Porsche have done. Well done Cayman
I seem to remember the 2.7 doing well against the BMW 235i too.......people who study 'figures' all the time....there's more to a car than the 0-60mph.
As I say, I am not interested in lap times....mine is a pure road car, bought for the handling and bespoke features sadly lacking in BMW/Mini and VAG group cars.
Long gearing and high revving it certainly is...this makes a car for all occasions and delivering 33mpg most of the time, it's cheap to run too. Best car I've owned.
