When driving on a neutral throttle there is a non-speed related rattle from somewhere front and centre.

It disappears when accelerating, decelerating or dipping the clutch or rolling in neutral.

Slowly getting noisier and if you wind the window down loud enough to reflect off tunnel walls.

WRT the Scottish meet might get there. Drove to Wick for the eclipse in February, great car for munching miles.

Any mods? Headers? Or something touching the body when the engine is not torqued up?

Only mod is a wider air intake. Can't really tell where it is coming from. Quite a coarse metallic rattle.

I'd be looking at an idler pulley bearing?? more noticeable when loaded up (as in engine load)
Mine went in the old HSV GTS - R
But that was many moons ago...

V8NHH you say idler pulley bearing is more noticeable when the engine is loaded? Something to investigate but this is less noticeable under load. Will get that checked as its in for a service next weekend.

MYM8V8 ,brake disc back plate - that should be easy to check - cheers.

Should anyone be interested or have a similar noise it was the front "doughnut" on the propshaft - so don't ignore it! Thanks to Darren at Holden racing for fixing it.
